Sugar Ridge Elementary’s kindergarten students recently enjoyed an exciting, hands-on learning experience at LushAcres Farm in Clinton, South Carolina. This field trip allowed our youngest Pandas to extend their classroom learning beyond the walls of SRE.
Students made real-world connections to our science standards as they learned how pumpkins grow, how they are harvested, and how plants and animals depend on their environments. Each student even brought home a pumpkin!
Our Pandas also practiced map-reading, problem-solving, and teamwork as they navigated a corn maze. While feeding farm animals, students explored the basic needs of living things, and a rubber duck water activity introduced concepts of force and motion. The farm’s playground encouraged the development of gross motor skills, balance, and coordination.
From hands-on learning to experiencing their very first school bus ride, this field trip was full of excitement, new experiences, and lasting memories for our Pandas!
